Use Case title: Trainer Community Information Database

Short description: Knowledge transfer through trainings is one of the key points in case of complex advanced technologies such as grid systems, EGI should take concrete action to build up an effective trainer community, which can help to spread the already accumulated knowledge for the widest audience possible and accelerate the growth of the grid user community. Consequently, establishment of an information repository about the trainer community and its work is proposed to collect information about the trainers, to track and to evaluate their work in a standardized way.

Actors involved: EGI, SEE-GRID-2, other interested regional or application specific projects, contact points for traininers from NGI bodies.


Related Requirement: Establishment of close collaboration between grid projects (both regional and application-specific projects) and EGI regarding the sharing of experiences and construction of trainer community information database.

Pre-conditions: (optional)

  • Regional grid projects that could contribute to this UC should be identified.
  • A collaboration framework between actors involved should be prepared.

Steps:

  1. Create a web site for the grid trainer community
  2. Decide on the important information to be published for each trainer (such as: location, language skills, themes/topics, contact information, etc.)
  3. Based on step 2, create a template to be used commonly for the new trainer applicants
  4. Collect the required information for the template about trainers from projects and EGI partner countries
  5. Categorize the collected trainers according to their skills, locations, etc.
  6. Create a web based interface to search in the trainer information database.
  7. Process the training event questionnaires, and measure/track the work of the trainers

Post-conditions (optional):

  • Available trainers with certain skills will be reachable from a single repository.
  • The repository will speed up the preparation phase of the training events and will enable possible collaborations between projects.
  • Based on the analysis of the repository a professional trainer community can be identified.
