UC-SEEGRID-VIII
From EGI Knowledge Base
Use Case title: EGI and national/regional Service Level Agreements
Short description: EGI, through its function "Operation of infrastructure", would have to deal with various functional production-level Service Level Agreements adopted in its regions, or by participating national/regional Grid infrastructures/projects, or between user communities/VOs and resource providers. Common minimal SLA for EGI resource providers is proposed to be created, which should ensure minimal level of service to user communities/applications. SEE-GRID-2 established pilot SLA between the project and participating Grid sites (in terms of committed human resources, network connectivity, availability of computing and storage resources, and scheduled downtime limits), which resulted in substantial increase in quality of provided services.
Actors involved: EGI, national and regional Grids, resource providers, user communities
Related Requirement: Establishing of production-level SLAs.
Pre-conditions (optional): N/A
Steps:
- Identification of existing SLAs and procedures/frameworks for assessment of conformance of resource providers to SLAs.
- Identification of common services to be monitored by EGI SLA and quantitative measures of minimal quality of service provided to end users.
- Creation of common EGI SLA. EGI SLA should be agreed, accepted and monitored by all participating Grid infrastructures.
- Periodic review of SLA and its adjustment according to the evolution of available Grid middleware services and monitoring results of quality of service.
Post-conditions (optional): N/A
Project(s) involved (optional): EGI_SD; EGEE, SEE-GRID-2; other interested regional projects
Middleware (optional): N/A
Application(s) (optional): N/A
