Use Case title: Standardized Training Materials on a Common Web Repository

Short description: EGI should take concrete action build up well defined and high quality knowledge transfer, which can help to spread the already accumulated knowledge for the widest audience possible and accelerate the growth of the grid user community. Consequently, establishment of a repository for the trainer community with systematically compiled training materials helps the trainers and standardizes the knowledge transfer between trainers and training participants.

Actors involved: EGI, SEE-GRID-2, other interested regional or application specific projects, contact points for traininers from NGI bodies and grid aware universities.


Related Requirement: Establishment of close collaboration between grid projects and EGI regarding the sharing of experiences and construction of training material on a common web repository.

Pre-conditions: (optional)

  • Regional grid projects that could contribute to this UC should be identified.
  • A collaboration framework between actors involved should be prepared.
  • Multi-layered (user, advanced user, developer, administrator) knowledge development path should be identified.
  • Already created training materials should be assessed.

Steps:

  1. Create a web site for the grid standardized training materials web repository.
  2. Categorize the already created materials according to their parameters: targeted topics, language, practical/theoretical, etc.
  3. Based on step 2, create basic training packages (targeting: users, developers, administrators, trainers) to be used for the future training events.
  4. Extend and update the basic core packages with localized materials for each grid aware projects/countries.
  5. Keep up-to-date the training packages and share the changes through mailing lists with the trainer community.

Post-conditions (optional):

  • Standardized and high quality grid training materials will be reachable from a single repository.
  • The repository will speed up the preparation phase of the training events and will enable possible collaborations between projects.
  • Highly trained trainers equipped with standardized training materials can assure the quality of the knowledge and information transfer between trainers and training participants.
  • Based on the analysis of the repository, graduate and post-graduate curricula in various grid topics can be identified.
