Use Case title: Infrastructure-oriented use case
Short description: As an activity of primary importance UNGI is planning to develop the middleware compatible (however, with gLite as a standard) with the existing requirements of various research teams. The common politics of EGI-NGI concerning the various middlewares used in VOs should be elaborated.
Actors involved:
Today UNGI is presented by joint UAGI (Ukrainian Academic Grid Initiative) and UGrid (Ukrainian National Grid) infrastructure facilities and is able to provide quite considerable resources to users which are ~ 700 CPU ( it will be more than 1000 CPU very soon) in clusters and ~ 50TB directly online. We see the Ukrainian grid-infrastructure as a hierarchical one of grid-sites supported by the national and regional powerful resource-operational centers. There is also the scientific data source from Ukrainian branch of Russian World Data Center which collects, saves and exchanges data with the other WDCs, spreads published materials and sends information on inquiries as regards

Ukrainian academic and university scientific research communities are provided by the modern data and computing resources for their treatment remotely through the National computer networks for science and education URAN (which is connected now to GEANT) and UARNET. The favorable conditions to the domestic data suppliers are created, giving them the possibility independently on-line to fill in their sections in the data depository, watch after their updating and set the rules of access to the data to other users. UNGI is actively working on intensive international co-operation in high energy physics and pledged its resources to the ALICE, CMS and WLCG Collaborations at CERN, creating Tier-2 federation to establish the stable and reliable links of Ukrainian scientific Institutions with their international partners. In order to meet all commitments at CERN the Ukrainian Grid community needs the efficient support from the state budget. The national Ukrainian concept was elaborated by UNGI and comprehensively discussed. Nowadays Ukrainian Government is taking it to executing and funding in the upcoming years. We expect soon a solution of EUGridPMA about establishment of a Grid Certifications Authority at Ukraine. UNGI intensifies its efforts to create national system of Grid certification and needs the efficient support in this activity.
