Use Case title: Running astrophysical application in EGEE grid

Short description: The process of preparation, submitting of astrophysical simulation to EGEE Grid, monitoring of status and collecting output datasets.

Actors involved: User


Related requirements:

  1. User owns valid personal grid certificate from Certification Authority accredited by EUGridPMA.
  2. User is member of one of the virtual organisations supported in EGEE grid infrastructure.

Pre-conditions: User logs on UI and creates grid proxy certificate.

Steps:

  1. User prepares input datasets on UI and application executing script.
  2. User prepares working directory on SE and transfers input datasets into it.
  3. User prepares configuration files for job management script.
  4. User starts job management script on UI.
  5. User occasionally checks status of processing by obtaining monitoring information from SE.
  6. If some task fails, user moves input dataset back to directory with data still to be processed.
  7. Application runs until processing of all input datasets is finished.
