Use Case title: Release of New Grid Middleware
Short description: A Grid middleware package is maintained and regular updates are issued. In this situation a new Grid middleware release is ready and needs to be deployed in the NGI environment.
Actors involved: Middleware Release Team, RC operators - persons deploying the new release at their site, NGI operator
Related reguirment: The software needs to be of production quality, having passed internal certification.
Pre-conditions (optional): Middleware Release Team announces the schedule for releases and upgrade paths (compatibility with previous releases).
Steps:
- The Middleware Release Team announces the new update as ready
- The NGI operator performs NGI certification of the middleware.
- Following successful certification, the NGI operator confirms conditions to the RC operator, to deploy the release; the RC operator installs the release at the specified site
- Otherwise, the NGI operator reports bugs to the Middleware Release Team.
Post-conditions (optional): New middleware is deployed at X NGI sites or bugs are reported to the Middleware Release Team.

Middleware (optional): A fundamental set of middleware packages, common and indispensable for each Grid site.
Application(s) (optional): Applications are not involved, however the resources may not be accessible to applications during update.
