Use Case title: Use of e-Infrastructure to support Engineering Applications
Short description: A large engineering team working in international projects requires access to large computing resources and would like also to profit from parallelization possibilities
Actors involved: engineering team (direction, researchers), contact in e-infrastructure
Pre-conditions:
- The engineering team has or hires a person that could support the setup of the VO
- The engineering team has funding to contact a resource center and sign a contract or to acquire equipment and integrate it in a grid framework
Steps:
- The researchers indicate their needs when requesting the infrastructure
- An agreement/contract for support is signed, either to integrate the resources or to use existing ones.
- The service machines to access resources are provided, authorization and authentication system are defined and agreed.
- If needed, the additional or existing equipment is “integrated” in an existing framework (for example EGEE)
- Researchers are trained by a contact defined in the resource center, on the use of API for applications in a grid framework
- Training on Parallelization (MPI for example) is also provided
